    Artist Review

The aesthetics of line and flat

    - The painting of Hyanglim Park -

    - H.S. Kim, Curator

Hyanglim Park draws the repeated lines by hand. And she paints city, nature and people by line and flat.

Flat is from widen line. They are the abstractive elements.

Hyanglim Park finishes the imitative painting by line and flat. So she is the post-modernist.

Line is the 1st dimension from spot. Flat is the 2nd dimension from line. Structure is the 3rd dimension from flat. And structure with time is 4th dimension. The art began from line. Because line is the desire of drawing by outline.

She represents city, nature and people by line and flat. And Hyanglim Park makes the new life by liner perspective that is by the Euclid geometry. And it is the one-to-one correspondence. Geometry is by simplification of nature. And we can see the simplification at Hyanglim Park's painting.

She simplifies nature by line and flat. In 20th c. the geometry develops to new aesthetics by rational thinking and mechanic technology. Geometry can recognize the form by mathematical structure and rate. Hyanglim Park's brush draws line and flat on canvas, and it goes to mimic painting. So Hyanglim Park is the post-modernist on the border between figurative and abstractive.
